Standards

The standards an integrity record is measured against.

What each one governs, what the record must carry, and where it is applied on this site: papers, calculators, glossary.

Pressure vessels

API 510

What API 510 requires of a pressure vessel inspection record: intervals, corrosion rate, remaining life, MAWP, inspector qualification, and the data kept.

Process piping

API 570

API 570 in plain terms: piping classes, circuits, CMLs, corrosion rate, remaining life, intervals, injection points and dead legs, and what the record carries.

Storage tanks

API 653

API 653 for aboveground storage tanks: shell and bottom minimum thickness, settlement, external and internal intervals, repairs, and the record that proves it.

Fitness for service

API 579-1 ASME FFS-1

How API 579-1 / ASME FFS-1 works: assessment Levels 1 to 3, the damage parts, what a Level 1 screening compares, and the record an FFS decision carries.

Risk-based inspection

API 580 and 581

What API 580 and 581 require of an RBI program: probability and consequence of failure, the risk matrix, inspection planning, reassessment, and the record.

Damage mechanisms

API 571

API 571 explained: the damage mechanisms in refining and petrochemical service, how each is described, and how they drive CML selection, RBI and the record.

Standards questions

What do these standards pages cover?

Each page states what the standard governs, the requirements an inspection record has to satisfy, the data a defensible record carries, and links to the papers, calculators and glossary terms that apply it.

Are these a substitute for the published standard?

No. They describe the standard's scope and record requirements by topic. Edition-specific clauses and numbers must be confirmed against the published document your program has adopted.

How does intelliSPEC relate to these standards?

The platform's calculations return the design code and formula with each number, and forms, workflows and reports are configured to carry the fields these standards expect. Each page has a short section on that.
