Defense depot NDE and quality evidence

2026-07-08 · Tactical vehicles, naval structures, ground support & ordnance handling (MIL-STD / NAS410 / AQAP)

Measured outcomeObjective quality evidence (OQE) packages for government quality representatives generated in one query instead of a two-week binder hunt.

A defense depot and government contractor performing structural overhaul, weld repair, and non-destructive examination on serialized tactical and naval equipment had to present complete Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and command quality representatives before any assembly could clear a government hold point.

Current state before intelliSPEC

  • Two-week OQE binder assembly: For every hull weld, lifting padeye, or pressure bottle, quality clerks pulled paper weld maps, MT/UT/RT reports, examiner NAS410 / MIL-STD-2132 certs, and gauge calibration sheets from four separate offices.
  • Hold-point bottlenecks: Government mandatory inspection points (GMIPs) stalled when a calibration certificate or procedure revision could not be verified at the shop floor.
  • Strict data-residency and access rules: Spreadsheets on shared drives lacked the granular role-based access control (RBAC) and immutable audit trails required for defense sustainment programs.

Configured path

The facility deployed intelliVISION, intelliINSPECT, intelliNDT, intelliCREW, intelliTRACK, intelliPAINT, and intelliCOMPLY, with shop and dockside execution on intelliEDGE.

  1. Serialized hull and assembly spine: Every serialized vehicle, frame, lifting appliance, and weld joint was registered in .
  2. Hard credential and calibration gates: checked NAS410, SNT-TC-1A, and AWS/ASME IX welder qualifications at assignment, while verified ISO/IEC 17025 calibration status on every NDE instrument and torque wrench scanned to the job.
  3. CARC coating and GMIP sign-offs: logged MIL-DTL-53072 CARC coating prep and DFT, and held government witness and hold-point signatures in a hash-chained trail.

Measured outcome

  • Single-query DCMA walkdowns: Quality reps select any weld or serial number and immediately view the examiner credential, calibrated gauge serial, NDE report, DICONDE media, and coating log.
  • Zero expired gauges or certs on the floor: Automated blocks prevent sign-off with an overdue tool or lapsed qualification.
  • Enforced tenant and role security: 524-permission RBAC and segregation of duties ensure authors cannot self-approve critical quality records.
